Across The Street

After years of separation, the twin sisters are overjoyed to be reunited when Sam and her husband, Chris, move across the street from Alex and her husband, Jack, in their Scottsdale neighborhood.  But for Sam, only one thing mars her happiness.  

After years of fertility struggles and having lost her only child to SIDS, her one remaining hope to have another child is to ask her twin sister to be her surrogate.  But it is 2008, money is tight, and IVF procedures are expensive.  Sam has another idea.  Identical twins have identical DNA.  An egg from Alex would be the same as one of hers, wouldn’t it?  Did they really need to go to a fertility clinic for the procedure?  How about Vegas?

Alex would do anything for her beloved Sam, but being a surrogate for her twin sister tests the limits of her devotion and shakes the foundation of her marriage and relationships with her teenage children, Nick and Annie.  When Alex discovers that Arizona law dictates that the woman who gives birth to a child is his legal mother, the tension escalates.  Who should rightfully have the baby?
